The Doctors: Healthier Ways To Enjoy Decadent Cooking
Dr Travis Stork revealed that if you can’t figure out why you’re gaining weight, cooking shows on TV could possibly be to blame! He welcomed author of “The Hungry Girl Diet Cookbook,” Lisa Lillien. Lisa explained that people want to recreate the food they see on TV and often times those recipes are made with decadent ingredients and the portion sizes are large.
You best bet is to go with some healthier alternatives. Lisa showed that a delicious looking pork tenderloin slider is 395 calories with 22 grams of fat for just one! She made a healthier alternative that uses pork tenderloin coated once with pretzels. She also used light mayonnaise rather than regular and instead of frying the tenderloin, she baked them. Her version has 165 calories and just four grams of fat.

The Doctors: Healthier Frittata
Lisa then showed a frittata that was made on the show Cooking with Tiffany. It was a red pepper goat cheese frittata and it contains 460 calories and 37 grams of fat in just one serving. Her version was just 240 calories and 9 grams of fat. In her’s she used just egg whites rather than the whole egg and Greek yogurt instead of heavy cream. Also, instead of goat cheese, she used a reduced fat feta cheese. Click through to find Lisa’s recipe for a healthier frittata.
The Doctors: Lightening Up Dessert
Finally, Lisa showed Dr Travis Stork Pioneer Woman’s strawberry pretzel pie, which is 515 calories and 18 grams of fat per serving. She lightened it up with less sugar and rather than using a pretzel crust with an entire stick of butter, she topped it with some crushed pretzels. She also used gelatin rather than strawberry Jell-O. Her version was 165 calories with 2 grams of fat.
