The Doctors December 17 was, unfortunately, a far more somber show than usual. Dr. Travis Stork sat down with Dr. Phil to discuss the shocking and tragic events of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. They spoke via telephone with a Sandy Hook parent and also a now-grown survivor of the Columbine shooting.

Dr. Travis and Dr. Phil sat down together and discussed how a parent can talk to their children about the Sandy Hook tragedy. Dr. Phil identified the most common signs of grief and also spoke with Sandy Hook parent Richard Wilford about his seven-year-old survivor son.

Later, Dr. Phil and Dr. Travis spoke with Columbine shooting survivor Crystal Woodman Miller. Dr. Travis also shared his experiences as a first responder in the emergency room, and raised the important question, “Is this a wake-up call?”
