The Doctors: Sagging Earlobes

The Doctors demonstrated a simple split earlobe correction surgery for a woman who did not know she had a contact dermatitis allergy to nickel in jewelry.
For over 10 years, 55-year-old Roberta had split earlobe problems, until she came on The Doctors TV show. She said that a plastic surgeon once told her that surgery to correct them would be difficult and expensive. Instead, she tried using a liquid bandage product and wore large earrings to cover up her problem. Find out how to treat Split Earlobes and how a Contact Dermatitis allergy to Nickel turned out to be the cause!
This treatment caused multiple ear infections over the years, and she said she has always been self-conscious about her problem. She had two splits on her left ear and three splits on the right ear. Then she learned she was allergic to nickel, which was making the problem worse.

Roberta was excited to change her life with Dr Sandra Lee, a dermatologist and specialist for The Doctors. Dr Lee said that Roberta had Allergic Contact Dermatitis, and nickel was causing rashes and infections, while pulling and damaging her earlobes.
She said she has also noticed allergic reactions with jeans buttons, belts, wrists and other areas where you might come in contact with nickel. To treat the sagging earlobes, Dr Lee refreshed the edges of the wound and put in a few stitches.
Nickel Allergy Clear Nail Polish Trick For Contact Dermatitis
If you have a Contact Dermatitis allergy, you have to keep that product away from you. But that is not always easy. Dr Lee explained that even stainless steel products could leach nickel if exposed to sweat or moisture.
For those with a nickel allergy, Dr Sanda Lee suggested painting clear nail polish over the button of your jeans and even on nickel earrings. Keep an eye out for sweating or try using tape to keep nickel from touching the skin.
You can use a steroid cream to alleviate an acute reaction in the short term. Dr Lee used clear sutures while performing the procedure on The Doctors TV show.
The Drs TV: Split Earlobes Update
At the end of the show, Roberta got to see the before and after picture of her earlobe procedure. The quick stitches already made her ear look much better, and she was wearing a diamond earring instead of nickel.
Roberta praised Dr Lee for her “wonderful” work, and Dr Travis said you don’t have to live with problems for a long period of time. If you are struggling with a prolonged problem, consider getting a second opinion so you don’t have to suffer for years.
