The Doctors: Crack Pipe Vending Machines
Mark Townsend, the Executive Director of the Drug User Resource Center in Vancouver, Canada, will talk about his controversial new initiative to have crack pipe vending machines. Why crack pipe vending machines? It’s all a part of an effort to decrease the number of Hepatitis C and HIV cases in his area. Good idea? Bad idea? The Doctors will talk to Townsend and weigh in on the initiative July 29, 2014.
The Doctors: Illegal Facial Injections
The Doctors will have an update on Rajee, who previously shared her story in January of 2012. Rajee received what she thought were medical-grade silicone injections to her face, only to find out that they were cement-like substances found in certain adhesives and tire repair products. The illegal injections hardened and left her with disfiguring nodules on her face. The Doctors will hear about a surgery that repaired the nodules and see Rajee’s amazing transformation.
The Doctors: Laser Pointers On Airplanes
Laser pointers can be fun, but did you know they pose an enormous risk to airplanes? The alarming trend poses a risk to everyone ranging from the pilot, the passengers, and even the people on the ground. How?
More and more, pilots are complaining of people shining laser pointers up at them from the ground. When you shoot a laser pointer, it looks like it comes to a finite point. However, as it travels through the air, depending on the type of laser, it may grow into a much larger point until it completely obscures the vision of the pilot. This is a disastrous problem and The Doctors will talk to experts to find out all about it.
