The Doctors Diet Cookbook
Dr. Travis Stork was out of his scrubs and in the kitchen to share some recipes from The Doctor’s Diet Cookbook. A lot of people have lost a lot of weight following The Doctor’s Diet but he’s been approached by all kinds of people asking for him to show more recipes.
Dr. Stork explained that he takes comfort food to a whole new level and said you don’t have to give up your mac and cheese, nachos, and burgers. He wanted to share how you can make healthy food taste great.
Dr. Stork said his cookbook is all about cooking, eating, and finding the right tools so that you can come out of the holidays even healthier than when you started. He welcomed two women who were on The Doctor’s Diet and lost a significant amount of weight. Michelle has lost over 35 pounds on the diet, and her husband who has lost a lot of weight as well. Sarah said she’s stayed on the diet and kept the weight off, so she’s excited for new recipes.
The Drs TV: 1-Minute Quick-sadilla Recipe
Dr. Stork shared that people think in order to lose weight, you have to restrict yourself. But when it comes to the cookbook, it’s about eating and in some cases eating more! He said that a lot of the recipes in the book are quick, so he came up with a concept called Dr. T’s Gourmet On The Go.
The first recipe Dr. Stork shared was for what he called “quick-sadillas,” which was a one-minute recipe.
Whole wheat tortillas are thrown on a griddle, and then a small amount of black beans are sprinkled onto the tortilla. A little bit of shredded cheese is then added. Dr. Stork also throws a little spinach on top of the cheese, then folds over the tortilla to make it into the shape of a quesadilla. Flip it to brown both sides and then within a minute or two, you have a delicious meal.
He suggested using whole wheat tortillas because the whole wheat can reduce your risk for heart disease and type two diabetes. He said black beans are probably “the best bang for your buck in terms of price” and have 12 grams of fiber per cup and are loaded with protein.
Dr. Stork said he also has recipes in the book for homemade guacamole and salsa.
The Drs TV: Healthy Dark Chocolate Mousse Recipe
Dr. Stork also shared his recipe for dark chocolate mousse by saying that a lot of people avoid dessert when it comes to their diets because they think they have to be perfect. But Dr. Stork explained that perfect is the enemy when it comes to good health.
Dr. Stork’s dark chocolate mousse has a secret ingredient in it that takes it over the edge when it comes to nutrition. So what’s the secret? Avocado! The avocado is loaded with vitamins and also has extra fiber and good fats and the real chocolate is good for you!
