The Doctors: Colossal Poops?
The Doctors sent Dr. Jorge Rodriguez, also known as Dr. Digusting, to talk to a woman named Anne, who said she suffered from colossal poops. She said her poops are so big, they’re about six to eight inches in diameter. She said they’re so big that they clog toilets, which is embarrassing if she goes out in public. She said her mom has heard her scream from outside the bathroom when she goes. She sometimes even has to use her finger to help it come out.
She said she only has bowel movements three times week, sometimes only once. She said she’s even had times she didn’t go for two weeks.
The Doctors: What Causes Constipation?
Dr. Rodriguez asked her what her diet was like and she said she “doesn’t really have one.” She also said she has maybe two glasses of water a day. Dr. Rodriguez said she had constipation. Anne’s case is particularly bad, because once it starts to get blocked up, the poop builds in her colon until it becomes colossal.
He demonstrated it with tennis balls in a bag. He said for each poop that gets hard and starts backing up, it’s like one tennis ball on top of the other. He showed that her use of her finger was like tearing the bag to get the balls out. She’s tearing her anus that way as well. He said she needs to be on a high-fiber diet and drink lots of water.
The Doctors: Hard Stools
Dr. Rodriguez performed a rectal examination on her. She also brought a stool sample, which showed that there was no water in there at all.
The rectal examination showed that she already had hard stool in there. Dr. Rodriguez said in 31 years of practicing medicine, Anne had the hardest stool he’d ever seen. Luckily, though, this was something that could be fixed with diet and lifestyle changes.
The Doctors: Constipation Treatment
He gave her a one year supply of vitamins a day. He wanted her to take 25 grams of fiber a day. He also said she needed to drink a gallon of water a day. She also needed proper meals. So he hooked her up with one year of doctor-designed, chef-prepared meals, delivered by Bistro MD right to her doorstep. Each meal had a healthy amount of vegetables and whole grains, containing the necessary amount of fiber to keep Anne regular. Dr. Rodriguez said it would also help her to get regular. He also said he’d follow up on her case.
