The Drs: Samantha Harris Breast Cancer
The Doctors shared that Emmy award-winning TV host Samantha Harris was shocked when she heard the words “you have breast cancer.” Now, she’s trying to inspire others also facing adversity.

People probably know Samantha Harris best from Dancing with the Stars and Entertainment Tonight. She shared that she was more fit and healthy than she had ever been at age 40. She found a lump during a self-exam, and after two doctors told her it was nothing, she saw a specialist who diagnosed her with breast cancer. She realized that she had two little girls and a husband, and knew that she lost her own dad to cancer. She said it took a while to let it all sink in.
The Drs: Samantha Harris Gotta Make Lemonade
She had a mastectomy and was having a hard time when her husband said to her “when life throws you lemons, you gotta make lemonade.” That inspired her to start Gotta Make Lemonade with the hope of inspiring positivity in those who are being faced with adversity. People started sharing their stories with Samantha, helping her get through her recovery.
The Drs: Samantha Harris Inspiring Others
The Doctors welcomed Samantha to the show, who said the site is about anyone who is taking on one of life’s challenges. Samantha said her older daughter got involved and came up with her own ideas. She said Gotta Make Lemonade can also involve kids.
Dr Rachael Ross said Samantha Harris is teaching that you can take something that starts out as bad news and turn it into something you can use to inspire others. Samantha said Gotta Make Lemonade has a lot of stories that people have shared, but it’s more than just about breast cancer. She said it’s all about things that are incredibly heavy, but yet the stories are uplifting, positive, and give you hope.
