The Doctors TV Show: Do Prescription Glasses Age You?
Dr Lisa Masterson said that some women have to wear glasses to read close up as they age, and so they take glasses out to read things like menus, which may age them. However, there are a bunch of celebrities, like Johnny Depp, that wear glasses to make fashion or style statements. And none of The Doctors seemed to think that glasses age Johnny. Or how about Tina Fay – her trademark look is to wear glasses. A study showed that, in younger people, you tend to look 3.3 years older if you wear glasses, whereas if you are in your 40’s or above, wearing glasses may age you up to 5 years.
The Doctors said that the bottom line is that if you feel eye strain or headaches, you should get an eye exam and wear glasses if necessary. Health over looks! Also, if you are over 60 years old or are otherwise predisposed, get yearly exams such as the Glaucoma Eye Exam and the Macular Degeneration Eye Exam.
