A woman wrote into The Doctors with a question about the blackheads on her belly. She wasn’t sure what the black and blue dots were at first, because she thought you could only get black heads on your face. Dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee helped the woman eradicate her belly blackheads.

The Doctors: What Are Blackheads?

Blackheads can occur anywhere you have a hair follicle. That’s why they never happen on hands and feet, because there’s no hair follicles there. She said it’s not unusual to have blackheads in places other than the face. Black heads are the first thing that happens before acne turns into a cyst or a pustule.

The Doctors: Blackhead Treatment

Dr. Sandra Lee said she might prescribe a retinoid for the blackheads, but the important thing is to get rid of the black part. She said that the strips for nose blackheads are fine to get rid of them, but in more serious cases or other parts of the body, other treatments might be more effective.

The Doctors: The Fault In Our Stars

Then it was on to The Doctors News In 2:00, where The Doctors looked at The Fault In Our Stars. Shailene Woodley said that her character in the new movie has cancer in her lungs and she has to breathe through a oxygen tank that she carries everywhere with her. The new movie is based on a book by John Green about two people who meet in a cancer support group and fall in love.

The Doctors: Charles Barkley Controversy

Former NBA star Charles Barkley is under fire for his comments about overweight women in San Antonio, Texas. On an episode of Inside The NBA, he said that San Antonio had “some big ole women down there. That’s a gold mine for Weight Watchers.” The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance responded by calling for an apology, saying, “Making slurs about body size is just as offensive as making comments about body color.”
