The Doctors: Low Thyroid Hormones
The thyroid is a gland on the front of your neck which regulates every aspect of metabolism in your body, from heart rate to blood pressure to body temperature. Millions of Americans have overactive, or under-active, thyroid glands and they need to be tested often to check how much TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) is being produced. The Doctors said it is healthy to have a TSM of around .4 to 4.0 and when the number is higher it means the thyroid is not producing enough of the hormone.

The Doctors talked with a woman who had low thyroid hormones, went over the symptoms for low thyroid hormones and did some lower abdominal exercises.
One audience member, Liesl, was concerned about her thyroid levels and The Drs. brought her on stage to tell them what symptoms she had based on a chart they had on stage. The list of symptoms for a low thyroid include:
- Cold sensitivity
- Constipation
- Dry skin, hair and nails
- Fatigue
- Muscle cramps
- Voice change
- Unexplained weight gain
The Doctors cautioned everyone who goes to the doctor and is prescribed a thyroid supplement to not take the medication with any type of dairy product because it will inhibit the absorption of the medication.
The Drs: Lower Abdominal Exercises
The biggest complaint The Doctors hear is about losing weight. Everyone wants to be a little skinnier but sometimes it can be hard to tighten up the lower abdominal muscles. Gretchen is one of the many women struggling with tightening up her lower abs. She said she used to have a great body, but after delivering her baby through C-section, she has been unable to get rid of the extra fat.
The Doctors called on personal trainer Basheerah Ahamd to help them tighten up their lower ab muscles.
Check out the video below to see what kinds of exercises she recommended to tighten up that tummy.
