The Doctors TV Show was focused on the topic of “Secrets Your Feet Tell About Your Health.” One of the topics that The Drs TV Show spoke about was Plantar Fasciitis and Heel Pain.
The Doctors: Plantar Fasciitis Causes
Dr Ali Sadrieh said that often, when you get throbbing in your heels, it is because of an inflammation of the element where your heel bone attaches to a ligament. A lady in the audience said that she had throbbing pain in her heels from wearing high heels. Dr Sadrieh showed how he could take an image of her foot in both the natural position and in the position her foot is forced into when she is wearing high heels. From this, it becomes clear how wearing high heels forces the bones in your feet into an un-natural position since you are basically walking directly on the bone because the fat pad that usually cushions your foot gets moved away. Unfortunately, professional women are often expected to wear high heels and many other women choose to wear these shoes for fashion reasons. Here are some tips to avoid and treat Plantar Fasciitis.
The Doctors: Heel Pain Treatments
– Icing your foot can help with Heel Pain. I particularly love this Feet Remedy that just uses a disposable plastic bottle and feels absolutely amazing!
– Change your shoes regularly
– Try orthotics to prevent the Fascia from getting tight. One of my favorites are these Orthotics Foot Supports.
– You can get injections for Plantar Fasciitis if it gets worse and ultimately you can even have a surgery for it.
Women can also help prevent Plantar Fasciitis from wearing high heels all day by compensating through stretching out their feet after and before wearing the heels.
