Ray told Dr Lisa Masterson that he has been married for 10 years to Christa, and her good side has made it worth sticking with her, but during the 2 weeks every month that she is PMS’ing, it is awful for both of them. Christa says she gets moody, hungry and has absolutely zero patience when she goes through PMS. Dr Lisa said that PMS is real and we do not quite know how the change of female hormones and chemical imbalance relate to serotonin, but 80% of women experience PMS. PMS Symptoms include fatigue, tension, anxiety, anger and it can get so severe that it interferes with relationships and work. PMDD is a really severe form of PMS that is almost like a depressive state. There are also physical symptoms associated with PMS such as bloating, breast tenderness, and food cravings for things like pizza or ice cream.
The Doctors: How to Reverse PMS Symptoms
Dr Lisa Masterson said that you can help to reverse PMS Symptoms through diet, exercise and medications. Christa said that she takes vitamins, exercises 2 hours a day and eats a healthy diet. Dr Lisa said that if all else fails, she should go to the doctor and get a blood test, hormone test, and thyroid test to be sure there are not any other issues. Also, stress can exacerbate PMS, so stress management is important. Your doctor can also give you things like antidepressants, birth control pills or other medications to help you get through PMS. Vitamin B6 has also been shown to help with PMS. Some other things to keep in mind is that you should decrease your salt intake, get a healthy diet and exercise regularly.
