Lawrence Bishop Held Onto Cliff in Sierra National Forest
Lawrence Bishop was hiking a trail in California’s Sierra National Forest, when the 64 year-old husband and father fell off the side of the cliff and clung onto the side of the cliff for over two days with no food or water. He was so dehydrated by the end of the second day he could hardly hold onto the side of the climb and began hallucinating. He had injured his head as he tried to descend down the cliff and realized he was not going to make it down the 10,000 foot cliff. His only option was to sit and wait and hope someone came to rescue him.
Rescuers finally found Bishop after nearly two days. But this wasn’t the end of the ordeal. The rescuers would have to free climb, meaning without the use of ropes or clips, to Bishops location and hook a rope onto him. Luckily, the team of rescuers was able to get Bishop safely off the cliff.
The Doctors: Lawrence Bishop’s Hiking Lesson
Dr. Stork asked Bishop what he learned from the adventure and Bishop said to always bring water whenever he went hiking. Dr. Stork agreed and made his doctors orders for the day a simple task for everyone; drink a lot of water today and stay hydrated.
