The Doctors: How To Protect Your Skin

Dr Andrew Ordon: Skin Protection

Dr. Travis Stork said skin is the largest organ of your body. Skin cancer is the most prevalent form of cancer in the United States. That’s why he and the other doctors stressed the importance of protecting your skin every day.

Dr. Andrew Ordon offered some tips to keep your skin healthy. First, avoid the sun during peak hours. Eating a healthy diet also helps. Managing your stress is good for your skin as well. Dr. Ordon also recommended cleansing your body gently and avoiding strong, harsh soaps. He said limiting shower time and reducing water temperature will benefit your skin. Finally he recommended using a moisturizer daily, preferably with a lotion that has SPF protection.

The Doctors: How To Protect Your Skin

Dermatologist Dr. Rosemarie Ingleton shared warnings about protecting your skin from sun exposure.

Dr Rosemarie Ingleton: Sun Exposure Dangers

The Doctors were joined by Dr. Rosemarie Ingleton, a dermatologist. She said that Eucerin, the skincare brand, is working to create skin savvy awareness around the country. They are taking a bus around the country to educate people about their skin.

Dr. Travis Stork said incidental sun exposure can be harmful to your skin. Sun damage can occur during your everyday activities. He said women tend to have more incidental exposure. Dr. Andrew Ordon said that’s the type of exposure that leads to signs of premature aging like wrinkles, age spots, and even cancer.

The Doctors: Eucerin Skin Aging Simulator

Dr. Rosemarie Ingleton used the Eucerin Skin Aging Simulator on Dr. Travis Stork, to see what his skin might look like when he reaches his 70s, if he doesn’t protect his skin now. She said he is an outdoorsy guy, who rides his bike to work.

The simulated picture showed lots of skin damage, wrinkles, and lines. “I look like a mass murderer,” Dr. Travis Stork said. Dr. Rosemary Ingleton said he can prevent this type of damage by taking some preventative steps. Dr. Andrew Ordon said you can take Eucerin’s Skin First pledge to protect your skin at thedoctorstv.com.
