The Doctors: Enlarged Labia
Looks matter, according to Dr. Travis Stork, “whether it’s your face, your hair, or down there.” This show loves their 6th grade euphemisms for “down there”.
Gross Anatomy: Labia Pain & Discomfort
Shannon is 23 years old and has an Enlarged Labia. She is in nursing school, and she said her condition is actually physically uncomfortable. It results in multiple Urinary Tract Infections.
In fact, Shannon explained that her condition came between her and her last boyfriend.
The Drs: Oversized Labia
Dr. Jennifer Berman is a urologist, and she met with Shannon to come up with a solution. Shannon said that that she often has to adjust herself to prevent discomfort. She said symptoms are worse before her period, and the whole situation has made her self conscious.
Shannon said that she knew since middle school that she was different from other girls. Dr. Jennifer did an examination and concluded that she has “significant Labial Redundancy.” She explained how surgery could help reduce Shannon’s pain from this anatomic abnormality.
The Doctors: Labiaplasty Surgery
Dr. Jennifer referred Shannon to plastic surgeon Dr. Grant Stevens, who explained that he would perform the Labiaplasty, and Dr. Jennifer would remove the scar tissue.
The Drs: Labiaplasty Results
First, Dr. Grant numbed the area with topical cream and local anesthetic. He said that the area they removed was the length of an average middle finger.
Dr. Jennifer removed the scar tissue, for more movement and comfort. Shannon was thrilled about the results and looking forward to added comfort and pleasure in her life.
