Dr. Phil McGraw appeared on The Doctors TV show to discuss his newest book, Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World.
Dr. Phil has written six New York Times bestsellers and has been changing lives for 16 years. He originally started out as a guest star on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Did you catch her 2012 holiday gift guide episode?
Dr. Phil said that you can’t function in today’s world without talking about the physiological component. He said the world today is completely different than it was when he was growing up.
The Drs: Medical Scams to Watch Out For

Dr. Travis Stork said that according to the FTC, Americans waste millions of dollars a year on medical gimmicks for weight loss, anti-aging and cancer. The Food and Drug Administration recently shut down 18,000 fake pharmacy websites.
The FDA recently recalled 40 weight loss supplements and 70 “enhancement” supplements. Dr. Lisa Masterson said that her friends and patients that want to lose weight are desperate for anything and will try anything.
Dr. Phil said that he talks about people who scam you or con you in his book, and he calls them baiters. Baiters stands for backstabbers, abusers, impostors, takers, exploiters and reckless.

Dr. Phil said that people who sell bad drugs to make a living are engaging in a reckless life. He also talked about people who are the “Evil Eight:”
- arrogant entitlement
- lack empathy
- no remorse/guilt
- irresponsible/self-destructive
- thrive on drama
- brag about outsmarting
- short-term relationships
- fantasy world/delusional
Dr. Stork said that before you go and spend money on a heath supplement, you need to talk it over with your doctor to avoid a scam.
The Doctors: How to Avoid Getting Mugged
Did you know that the way you walk could put you at risk for getting robbed? Dr. Phil said if you have your head down and you’re not paying attention, you’re inviting trouble. He said he and his wife were almost mugged recently, and he was defensive and told the man to stop and walk away.
