The Doctors: Save Money At The Dentist + Always Ask Why
As Dr. Rachael Ross said on The Doctors, healthcare certainly isn’t cheap, especially when you’re paying out-of-pocket prices. She had some tips for saving money in a segment called “Doc On A Dime.”
Michelle Katz, author of Healthcare For Less, said one of the best kept secrets is that when you go in to the dentist, there’s a scam about fillings. She suggested that you ask why you’re getting fillings and if it’s because your teeth are eroding or there is some decay. She said some dentists will say that you should just replace all the fillings, and as Dr. Ross said, the dentists are creating problems that may not have existed in the first place, and that’s how people are ending up with such huge bills. Michelle said it’s very important to ask why.
The Drs TV: Consider Dental Schools
Then, Dr. Ross shared that heard about finding a dental school in your area that is accepting patients. But she wanted to know whether it was a good idea to go there instead. Michelle said it was a great tip, because that’s exactly how our dentists get trained. She said what even she has done is call up a trained dentist school, and see if you can get an appointment. She added that you should know that the students are supervised.
The Doctors: Light Relief Device For Pain
Moll Anderson joined Dr. Ross to share some great Doctors Deals. First, she shared the Light Relief pain relief device. Moll explained that the device can be held over your shoulder, or you could strap it on, and it makes different color tones and lights to warm a sore area and relieve pain. Normally, the device costs $95, but you can get it for just $44, a discount of 54%.
The Drs TV: Maxine Couture Mamba Bag
Next, Moll had a great deal on a fashionable handbag. The Maxine Couture Mamba bag is made of genuine leather and comes in seven different colors. It has gold plated zippers and a tassel, and usually retails for $380. With The Doctors Deal, you can get the bag for just $82, which is a 78% discount!
The Doctors: Shape On Shapewear
Moll Anderson then shared that she had an incredible deal for Shape On shapewear. Moll called it the “Mac Daddy of all shapewear” because she has worn it herself and said it was amazing. She said the other shapewears will roll up and down, but this one won’t, and even more than that, it’s breathable as well. She also showed that it “pinches in and holds up” the areas we’re all concerned about.
Moll explained that the shapewear usually retails for $119, but with The Doctors Deals, you can get it for only $39, a savings of 67%!
The Drs TV: Blood Pressure Tips
Dr. Travis Stork then shared some tips for keeping your blood pressure under control. He said high blood pressure can increase your risk of a heart attack or stroke, and could even lead to kidney failure.
To keep your blood pressure under control, you should get regular exercise. You should aim for 30-40 minutes of moderate to rigorous physical activity three to four times a week, and losing just five pounds could lower your blood pressure. You can also improve your blood pressure by focusing your diet on foods like fruits and vegetables and whole grains. You can also help by cutting back on trans fats and limiting your sodium intake to 1,500 milligrams a day.
The Doctors: Eat Peanut Butter for Weight Loss
Did you know the key to weight loss could be sitting in your pantry right now? It’s peanut butter and studies show that adding peanut butter to your breakfast can help control cravings for up to 12 hours afterward and attribute the findings to the high protein, fiber, and health fats you can find in peanuts, which can work together to keep your satisfied. Just make sure it’s real peanut butter, not the ones with added sugar.
Just a tablespoon can make a big difference on a banana, apple, or slice of whole wheat bread.
