The Doctors: Bankruptcy From Medical Bills
Audrey from Wichita Falls, Texas sent in a question to The Doctors TV show.
“Dear Doctors, I never thought a simple case of the flu could lead me to consider bankruptcy. But when I had complications and ended up in the hospital for a week, my medical bills quickly became too much to handle. What do you recommend to patients like me?
The Drs: How to Negotiate Your Medical Bills
Dr. Travis Stork said that this is a very common and difficult situation. Dr. Phil McGraw, who guest starred on the show, said that there’s an entire chapter in his new book, Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World, about negotiating.
Dr. Phil said that you negotiate everything in today’s world, from your relationships to your medical bills. He said it’s important to not waste time talking to people that can’t give you what you want.
Dr. Stork said that if you can’t pay your medical bills, you absolutely can negotiate with the hospital. He also said you need to make sure that you’re talking to the right person. Your doctor probably has no idea what you’re billed, so there’s no point in asking them to reduce your bills. Check out more negotiation tips in the video below.
The Drs TV: What Makes You Vulnerable?
Dr. Phil talked about baiters on the show, and said that baiters will target what you’re the most vulnerable about. He said that everyone should make a list for their eyes only about what they hope most that people won’t find out about.
You can’t be ambushed by something if it’s already on your radar. Dr. Phil also said that you should make a list of what you’re the most proud of.
Life Code: The New Rules for Winning in the Real World is the book that Dr. Phil is the most proud of. The Drs. sent everyone in the audience home with a copy of his book.
