The Doctors shared that Denise Austin has been a leader in the fitness industry, with over 100 workout videos and DVDs. She’s sold more than 24 million copies of the DVDs, and now her daughter Katie is joining her mother in a new DVD, combining 30 years of fitness and nutrition into one plan.
Denise Austin and her daughter Katie were on the show and Katie said it’s hard to compare to her mom’s energy. Dr Travis Stork said he always remembered Denise doing her fitness routine early in the morning. Dr Rachael Ross said her first exercise aerobics tape was Denise’s tape.
The Drs: Denise Austin & Daughter Katie
Denise said motherhood made her feel empowered and she took her kids everywhere while she was filming. She said it became a family affair. The Doctors then shared a picture of Denise from the ’80s wearing a red leotard, grey tights, pink legwarmers, and red shoes. Katie said “that’s exactly how I imagine the ’80s.”
Denise shared that they did a mother-daughter dance routine workout on her new video. Denise said exercising in your home is a great way to get everyone to workout together.
Katie said she’s working on an e-book right now about making girls feel confident in their own skin. She’s hoping to follow in her mother’s footsteps in many ways! Katie then instructed everyone to stand up and twist, while holding their arms at 90 degrees, showing that you can workout anytime of the day, no matter what you’re wearing.
The Drs: Spices That Fight Inflammation
The Doctors then shared that because inflammation can cause pain, they wanted to share three spices that help fight inflammation. First was turmeric because it’s a powerful anti-inflammatory that can be thrown into your stir fry and even your shakes. Dr Jennifer Ashton said she puts it on her scrambled eggs.
The Drs: Anti-Inflammatory Cloves & Ginger
Cloves is also ranked at the top of the list of spices with antioxidant powers. You can use cloves in your coffee, but Dr Rachael Ross said she thought the smell reminded her of country ham.
Finally, you can use ginger, which has anti-inflammatory powers and has been used for years to help with nausea and vomiting. Steep fresh finger in tea to make fresh ginger tea.
Yeah, I would just like to say that I had read that Denise Austin was quoted in the Washington City Paper saying she was upset over lewd comments made about past clips on YouTube. According to the Washington DC weekly newspaper, Denise giggled when someone asked if she was aware that she’s become the object of so much perversion and said, “Now I’m worried!” She also said that she was totally unaware of it (yeah right!). I wonder if she has ever read any of the comments and giggled. Look up “Denise Austin Gets Indecent Exposure” to read the article.
