Hayley Owino shared the story of how she and her husband had just moved into a new neighborhood with their newborn, Adda Claire. She said she had put her down for a nap and later realized she had been sleeping for longer than usual. When she went in to check on her, she found her face down and when she turned her over, she was blue and had blood coming from her nose and mouth. Talk about a parent’s worst nightmare!

Hayley said she was frantic and immediately called 911, but because they had just moved, she didn’t even know her address to tell the paramedics where to come. She ran out of the apartment yelling for help and Hakeem showed up.
Hakeem said he remembered Hayley saying, “My baby’s not breathing” and Hakeem said to her, “I know CPR, I got this.”
He started giving her mouth to mouth and chest compression’s and around the fifth push, baby Adda Claire opened her eyes and gasped for air. Adda Claire was rushed to the hospital and Hayley said after what seemed like forever, the nurses and doctors got her stabilized.

Today, Adda is a healthy little girl, and Hakeem has been made a part of the family. “This particular day, Hakeem was there for a reason,” Hayley said.
The Doctors welcomed Hayley, Adda Claire, and Hakeem to the show. Hakeem received a standing ovation, and the doctors called him a true hero. Dr. Stork wanted to know why Hakeem decided to learn CPR. He said his sister was pregnant with twins last year, and had an accident causing her to have her twins 3 months premature. His family and he decided to go and learn CPR because of the incident.
Dr. Stork urged everyone to learn CPR, saying you never know when you might need it. You can learn how to do CPR and potentially save someone’s life.
Because of Hakeem’s split-second decision, The Doctors surprised him with a trip to Aruba. Very well-deserved! The Doctors also surprised Hayley with a $1,000 gift card to Aden and Anais.
