The Chew: Spiced Slow Cooker Mulled Wine Recipe Ingredients

Clinton Kelly’s Spiced Slow Cooker Mulled Wine recipe is the perfect way to serve up a big-batch cocktail with little effort. Plus it stays warm for hours! (jamesonfink / Flickr)
- 1 tsp whole black peppercorns
- 2 bottles red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, 750-ml each)
- 4 cinnamon sticks
- 6 star anise pods
- 8 whole cloves
- 6 C apple cider
- 4 oranges – peeled, for garnish
The Chew: Spiced Slow Cooker Mulled Wine Recipe Directions
- In a small saute pan over medium-high heat, add the black peppercorns, star anise, and cloves, then toast until fragrant
- Remove from the heat and put on a piece of cheesecloth
- Tie the cloth with butchers twine to make a purse
- Into a slow cooker, add the purse of spices, apple cider, wine, and cinnamon sticks
- Heat on high for 30 minutes, then drop the heat to low for 4 hours
