- 1/2 C brown sugar
- 1/2 C + 2 tbsp flour + more for dusting
- 1/2 tsp salt
- store-bought caramel sauce – for serving
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry – thawed
- 1/4 C brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla or almond extract
- 3 apples
- flaky sea salt – for serving
Rachael Ray: Lazy Apple Pie Recipe Directions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
- Dust a work surface with a little bit of flour
- Use a rolling pin to roll out the puff pastry, just to smooth it a bit
- Use a fork to poke holes in the bottom of the crust, all over, so it doesn’t rise in the oven
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, flour, butter, and vanilla using a fork
- Add 1/2 tsp salt then mix until coarse and set aside
- Peel the apples (if desired, but not required)
- Use a sharp knife or mandolin to slice the apples thin, 1/4-inch thick
- Put the apples into the puff pastry in a thin layer, allowing them to overlap each other slightly
- Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the apples, then fold the excess dough over the apples
- Put into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, until the edges of the puff pastry are golden-brown
- Right before serving, drizzle the caramel sauce over the pie and add a sprinkle of sea salt
