Rachael Ray: Medical Tests You Shouldn’t Avoid
Though many of us only go to the doctor when we are on death’s doorstep, it turns out there are some tests we should all be getting to make sure we don’t make it past the threshold unexpectedly. I know; I don’t like going to the doctor anymore than you do, but I like living a lot more than I hate going to the doctor for a checkup. Take all of these tests into consideration!
The Stress Test – The treadmill stress test is one that you should get if you go to the doctor with specific symptoms or if you are getting a physical, especially later in life. A stress test will reveal any problems that you may have with your heart that may not come through when you are at rest.
The Cholesterol Test – The cholesterol test is one that you should get every time that you go to your doctor. We test cholesterol to make sure that it is not high because high cholesterol is a large player in heart disease – the number one killer in men and women – and stroke.
The Mammogram – You should regularly schedule a mammogram screening. Even if your family doesn’t have a history of breast cancer, it can strike any woman at any time.
