Kelly & Michael: Prayers For Joan Rivers

Kelly Ripa said she wanted to send her love, positive thoughts, and prayers to Joan Rivers. She said she sat next to Joan Rivers at a wedding and were reminiscing about September 11 because Joan was the guest on their show that day. She said she was so devastated, sobbing backstage, but still funny.

Michael Strahan said that also while they were gone, Robin Williams passed away. He said he actually had a Mork and Mindy marathon just yesterday, and said Robin Williams was “so brilliant” on that show.

He went on to say that Robin Williams’ daughter got off Twitter for a while because of what people were doing to her. But then tweeted a quote from one of her dad’s co-stars on Mrs. Doubtfire. The quote read: “Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life; define yourself. She added “thank you.”

Kelly said she wasn’t sure if she’d ever told her kids that someone had passed away, who wasn’t a close family member or friend, and had the kind of reaction they did. She said they sobbed because they were true fans of him.

Kelly & Michael: Social Media Bullying

She went on to say that she doesn’t understand people on social media becoming monsters during the whole ordeal. “There’s a sensitivity chip now that is missing,” she said. “Because everybody has this blanket voice that they can fire at your like a missile and think they can just walk away at the end of it because it’s anonymous.”

Kelly said she thinks it’s 50/50. “For every positive person, there’s a critical person,” she said.

She said she just joined Instagram, and noticed that when you put a picture up, people will automatically start fighting. She said she put up a picture of a pie and people were even fighting over it. “People, it’s a pie!” she exclaimed. “Let’s make pie, not war.”

Kelly moved on to talk about the “cloud leak” where inappropriate photos of celebrities were released due to a hack. She joked that it’s infuriating because she sent the guy her inappropriate photos and he still didn’t leak them. “What does a girl have to do to get hacked around here?” she joked.

Michael said he heard about it, and it is a serious invasion of privacy, but said he didn’t think he had anything like that. He said he’s afraid that if he were to share pictures like that, someone could get mad at him and next thing you know, the pictures are everywhere.

Kelly said she did a butt boot camp a few years ago and took a picture in a Brazilian cut bikini bottom. She meant to send the picture to her husband but accidentally sent it to her in-laws. She said you can imagine her shock when she got a message from her mother-in-law that said “Dear Kelly, we are so proud of all your hard work. It’s really paying off. You look terrific.”
