Lilla Crawford is the perfect Annie; she’s got the curly red hair, the cheerful attitude and the incredible singing voice. Lilla and Sunny, the dog who plays Sandy, took the stage to perform “Tomorrow.” Since its original 1977 debut, Annie has been one of the most popular musicals of all time, and “Tomorrow” is the classic song that just about everyone knows the words to. “Tomorrow” finds Annie, a young orphan, singing about her troubles and her belief that there are brighter days to come.

Lilla sang her heart out during “Tomorrow,” and then spoke with Kelly and Michael about her beginnings in theater and when she decided she wanted to be an actress. Lilla is 11, from Los Angeles, and has been performing nearly her entire life. She explained that since the age of about two, she’s been singing and dancing around the house. At the age of four, when she saw her first Broadway play Beauty and the Beast, she realized that she wanted to be on stage.

“I think I was always meant to do this,” the adorable young star said.

Lilla Crawford: Annie at the Palace Theater

Lilla’s dreams have come true thanks to her starring role in Annie. However, the process of auditioning was quite grueling, and she recently suffered an injury when her foot became stuck in a moving set piece. Thankfully, she escaped with just a few scratches and bruises. What a trooper!

About Loren DiBlasi

After my childhood dream of achieving Olympic figure skating gold fell through, I moved on to Plan B: become a writer. I've been writing since I can remember, and consider myself lucky to be making a career out of it. I graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 2011, and since that time, I have worked as a writer, editor and blogger. Luckily for this site, my love of TV borders on obsession.
