Kelly and Michael: Malin Akerman Swedish Name
Malin Akerman is a Swedish-Canadian actress and star of the new ABC sitcom Trophy Wife. Malin told Kelly and Michael all about her exciting new role, but first, she discussed her unusual name, which actually isn’t that unusual.
“Malin” is an extremely common, traditional name in Sweden, as Malin explained. I think it’s very pretty no matter which country you’re from!

Malin’s husband, Roberto Zincone, is Italian, and actually didn’t speak English when they first met. Kelly’s husband Mark also speaks Italian, which both women agreed is an extremely romantic language.
Malin now speaks some Italian, because her in-laws speak zero English. Malin loves her mother-in-law, who does all the laundry and makes breakfast whenever she visits. Sounds like a nice set-up!
Kelly and Michael: Malin Akerman Baby Sebastian
Malin and Roberto welcomed their first child this April, a son named Sebastian. Malin called motherhood “the best thing in the whole world.” She was actually pregnant during the filming of Trophy Wife, which meant she wore a lot of flowy tops to hide her baby bump. She was very nervous about keeping the job once she became pregnant, “but we made it work,” she said.

Trophy Wife is based on the life of one of the show’s creators. Malin portrays a reformed party girl who marries a wealthy lawyer (played by Bradley Whitford) and must adapt to his blended family of kids and ex-wives. Malin has no personal experience with this, but she comes from a family with step-parents and step-siblings, so she can definitely relate.
“We couldn’t ask for a better cast,” Malin said. She works with Marcia Gay Harden and Michaela Watkins, plus Bradley Whitford. Albert Tsai, who plays her stepson, is nine-years-old. He reads books about the stock market, or as Malin said, “normal kid stuff.”
