Kelly & Michael: Steve Buscemi Vs Kevin Spacey
Steve Buscemi is an award-winning actor. Kelly called him lovely and charming. He and Michael were meeting for the first time. Kelly said her son had an action figure of him as Mr. Pink from the Reservoir Dogs. Her producer told her that people come up to Kevin Spacey and ask for his autograph for his role in Reservoir Dogs because they think he’s Buscemi. He’s never been mistaken for him, but they’ve said they love him in The Usual Suspects. They compared pictures of them.

Michael asked what Buscemi’s favorite show was when he was growing up. He loved The Honeymooners. He used to watch Johnny Carson all the time too. He saw people on it like Truman Capote and he didn’t even know what they did. He just thought he was a great guest. He didn’t know you had to actually do something to get on the show. He just wanted to be on The Johnny Carson Show.
Kelly & Michael: Steve Buscemi Firefighter Documentary
Buscemi is a former firefighter and made a documentary about the New York fire department. He also went down and helped out during 9/11. Michael said the Giants players went down the weekend after and he saw him working. He said it was amazing and thanked him for jumping back in after years.
A Good Job: Stories of the FDNY Review
He said he did it in the early ’80s at Engine 55 and lost touch with them, but he went back after 9/11. Then he did a documentary with HBO. They interviewed firefighters and it’s the history of the firefighters and covers what they do. It’s about 9/11, but also the horrible fires before that. He also talked about PTSD before 9/11. Kelly says it takes a unique, selfless person to do such a counterintuitive thing to run into a burning building and help strangers. A Good Job: Stories of the FDNY will premiere on HBO September 8.
Kelly & Michael: Boardwalk Empire Final Season Review
The hosts showed a clip of Boardwalk Empire. In the clip, Nucky Thompson is trying to get into the liquor business and talks about being a bootlegger. Buscemi talked about how sad it is that it’s the final season of Boardwalk Empire. He said they had a great five years, but he’s going to miss everybody and he’s going to miss playing the character. He said it’s strange.
Kelly talked about the beautiful sets, clothes, and details. He said they do everything right from top to bottom. He said he’s going to find out about keeping the suits. He joked he forgot to get that in his contract. The earlier suits from the ‘20s were uncomfortable, but they jumped ahead seven years, and he likes those suits.
He said the last day of shooting was emotional and great. He worked with Kelly McDonald, and he had worked with her the first day too. They showed a picture of them. He said he loves her and her work. They were shooting and usually he gets distracted and complains if someone’s in his eye line, but on the last day he had everyone stand in front of him so he could see them. He said it was really amazing. Kelly asked how he does their show because there are so many people moving around. Boardwalk Empire airs on Sundays on HBO.
