Live!: National Geography Bee Winner, Sathwik Karnik
This past week the National Geography Bee was held in Washington, D.C., and the winner of the competition was Sathwik Karnik, a 7th grader from Norfolk Massachusetts.
He beat out his fellow competitor, Conrad Oberhaus, by correctly naming Chimborazo as the peak on Earth that is farthest from the Earth’s center.
He said he won $25,000 for winning the competition and told Kelly Ripa he is saving all of the money for his college education.
He stopped by Live! May 23 2013 to compete for Live! Geography Bee Trophy. He played against Kelly Ripa and Carson Kressley in their segment called Know Your Globe.
