Tom Selleck: TV Commercials & Short Shorts
Kelly & Michael were thrilled to welcome their friend, TV and film star Tom Selleck. He looked his usual dapper self in a corduroy suit, and of course, his iconic mustache. The hosts shared a picture of Tom at the only time in his life when he didn’t have a mustache: the age of 3.
Tom Selleck discussed the season four premiere of Blue Bloods with Kelly & Michael.
Before he became a big television star, Tom acted in a lot of commercials. He walked down memory lane with a commercial from 1980 that included a memorable shower scene. He revealed that everything works at “hyper speed” when you’re filming scenes for commercials– you practically rub your skin off!
Just like Michael, Tom also rocked the short shorts during his glory days. The screen flashed a photoshopped picture of Tom, Michael, and a retro sports car. “I think that’s re-touched!” he said. Even Kelly and a female audience member donned mustaches in honor of Tom.
Tom Selleck: Jesse Stone Boxed Set
In addition to his role on Blue Bloods, Tom is known for his popular Jesse Stone films on CBS. Now, he’s happy to announce that there will be an eight-part Jesse Stone boxed set! He brought one for Kelly, but didn’t bring one for Michael! He did have a message, though, straight from the Blue Bloods set; Bridget Moynahan said to tell Michael “He’s yummy!”
Tom Selleck: Blue Bloods Fourth Season
Blue Bloods is in its fourth season on CBS, and Tom still gets great feedback from the “heroes” of the NYPD. He portrays NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, and the characters on the show have become very real for him, and for the public.
They’re so real, in fact, that Tom bought a Marine Corp ring, and also a used Rolex engraved with the names of the show’s characters. “I can sell it on eBay when we’re done!” he said.
Kelly and Michael enjoyed an intense clip of Commissioner Reagan at the hospital after a police shooting. Catch all the drama when Blue Bloods premieres September 27, 2013 on CBS.
