Shia LaBeouf: Leg Cast & Boxing Injury
Kelly & Michael welcomed actor Shia LaBeouf to the show, and quickly noticed the giant cast on his leg. Shia revealed that he’s recently taken up boxing, and he injured his leg while jumping rope. More specifically, he injured his metatarsal muscles. He was jumping rope with Hector from Gleason’s Gym, the same gym that Michael attends.
Shia LaBeouf: Giants Fan
Speaking of Michael, Shia is a huge fan, and it was their first time meeting. Shia has been a Giants fan for years, and he even watched Michael win the Super Bowl in 2008. He actually cried in a parking lot with a bunch of strangers – he’s that devoted!
Shia LaBeouf: First Appearance On Live! 10 Years Ago
Shia, who has been acting since he was a child, first appeared on Live! 10 years ago. It was 2003, and Shia was just 17 years old. Kelly and Michael shared a little montage of Shia’s many appearances over the years. It became immediately obvious that Shia always claps in the exact same manner ever time he arrives. “I’m a cheerleader for myself,” he admitted.
Shia LaBeouf: New Film The Company You Keep
In the new film The Company You Keep, Shia plays Ben Shepherd, a reporter. Kelly described the film as “a game of cat and mouse.” Robert Redford, who also directed the film, portrays a member of the Weather Underground. They were a real-life political group that went to “pretty extreme lengths” in order to bring the Vietnam war to U.S. soil.
As a director, Shia said that Robert Redford is “very giving and trusting.” It was hard for Shia to get past being such a big fan, though. Kelly wondered if Shia has Robert Redford’s phone number. He doesn’t, but he does have his email, which is almost as good!
Kelly and Michael got to preview with film with an exclusive clip of Shia and co-star Stanley Tucci. See Shia LaBeouf and an incredible ensemble cast in The Company You Keep, in limited release April 5 2013 and nationwide later in April.
