Woodley closely cropped her hair and sported a wet bob for her interview. She loves having short hair, and she commiserated with Kelly Ripa about waking up with puffy hair each morning. “No one tells you when you have short hair that you look like a cockatoo when you wake up in the morning,” she said.
But she said that a quick shower will help to fix that problem. Michael Strahan recommended using a satin pillowcase to prevent this from happening overnight.
Kelly and Michael: Shailene Woodley Hawaii
It was Woodley’s first time on Live!, and the hosts talked about the four months she spent in Hawaii for The Descendents. She loved being surrounded by nature and all the outdoor activities that were available for her to enjoy. Kelly could not believe that she decided to leave Hawaii and return to the mainland.
Kelly & Michael: Shailene Woodley Divergent Review
The movie Divergent is about society being divided into different factions. Michael gave it a thumbs up, and others in the audience agreed. Woodley has emailed with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence about how a similar opportunity with The Hunger Games changed her life.
Woodley got some great advice from Lawrence, such as not going to the grocery store on the day the movie opens. Since the film is based on bestselling books, there is a built-in fanbase, which can be a double-edged sword.
Michael predicted that there will be a major response to the first film, and said that he is already looking forward to a sequel. In a scene from Divergent, Woodley’s character is forced to confront her fears in a very literal way. What are you afraid of?
Divergent is coming to theaters everywhere on March 21 2014.
