Kelly & Michael Russell Brand
Russell Brand stopped by Live! With Kelly & Michael for a hilarious Thanksgiving segment. He was going to talk to some New York City kids about Thanksgiving, which I was really excited about. Brand’s always absolutely hilarious, and this seemed like it was right up his alley. Brand was actually on the show recently to talk about his new children’s book The Pied Piper of Hamelin. This was a pre-taped segment. But when they introduced the segment, Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan were surrounded by kids. Thanksgiving is all about the three Fs: “Feasting, Football, and Family.” But what is Thanksgiving really about? This segment was absolutely hilarious and adorable. Brand was really funny and great with the kids.
Kelly & Michael: Russell Brand Gets Schooled
Brand needed to learn more about Thanksgiving so he did a segment called “Russell Brand Gets Schooled.” He went to a classroom to ask them about what Thanksgiving really is, since he’s an English person. He asked some kids because they’re “genuine Americans.” One kid said it was about thanking people for what they’ve done for you. Brand assumed that meant you thank firemen.
Another kid said you eat a turkey. One kid said it’s about being thankful for what they give to you. “Who?” Brand asked. Another said you celebrate the Indians. Brand couldn’t even respond to that.
Kelly & Michael: Russell Brand Thanksgiving Q&A
Brand asked the kids who’d they invite if they could invite anyone to their Thanksgiving dinner. One kid said she’d invite him, but another said they’d invite Katy Perry. Bad move, kid. One kid said Ariana Grande. He pretended he had no idea who she was. He made up this whole story about how Grande was the first pilgrim, but at one point they couldn’t understand his accent. Then they argued over what noise a turkey really makes. He wanted to put a kid in the “punishment box.”
Brand said he was learning less about “Turkey Day” as they went on. But one kid said it was called “Thanksgiving.” They decided to call it both. Then one kid put himself in the box. Brand then talked about how England invented Thanksgiving. They also talked about how Thanksgiving got started and what a pilgrim was.
