Richard Gere is an iconic actor who has appeared in countless memorable films. Now he has been nominated for a Golden Globe in his recent movie, Arbitrage. He spent a lot of time shaking hands before settling down with Kelly and Michael.

Kelly said Richard has a swagger that would work well in politics, but he said he cannot compromise, which is a requirement for politicians. Michael Strahan heard that Richard Gere has a music hobby, and Richard admitted that his wife asked him to get rid of his guitar collection.
He was up to 150 guitars, and he said he has pared it down to a much more reasonable 50 guitars, which he claims he plays all the time. He sold most of the guitars to raise money for his favorite Tibetan charities.

Richard’s son, Homer, is a Yankees fan and is old enough to play basketball now. Richard preferred baseball and gymnastics growing up, but he did put in several years coaching his son in baseball. Surprisingly, he said that no one bothered him for autographs at the games, which is pretty respectful.

Richard Gere’s tics during this interview included playing with his socks and drinking tea. I guess he can expect to be doing movies and talk shows for years to come, because his mom is 88 and his father turned 90 this year.

Richard has also recently been nominated for a Golden Globe for his work in Arbitrage. He was visiting India when the nominations were announced. He was outside of cell phone reception and had 50 messages when he got back into cell phone range in Goa.
Richard Gere is a student of the Dalai Lama, and Kelly Ripa basically asked for his phone number. She suggested that he take the Dalai Lama as his plus one for the Golden Globe Awards.

In the movie Arbitrage, Richard’s character is a hedge fund manager. Michael said he was surprised to find that he liked the character, despite his questionable morals and business moves. Richard said that he likes to find characters who live in shades of grey, to humanize them and make them relatable to audiences.
In a clip from the movie, his character’s daughter confronts him about his business shenanigans. Michael recalled attending the New York premiere of the film, and said he really enjoyed the movie. Now Arbitrage is out on Blu-Ray, DVD, and video on demand.
