Kelly & Michael: Pierce Brosnan Mama Mia Flip Flops
Pierce Brosnan came by to talk to Kelly & Michael. Kelly said she was thinking about him recently while she was on her vacation to Greece. It seemed like everywhere they went was a place where he shot Mamma Mia. They kept playing the soundtrack. Brosnan said they have his flip flops in some restaurant there. There are Christmas lights around them. He said they’re a size nine, but he has bigger feet than that, so they might not really be his.
Kelly & Michael: Pierce Brosnan’s Son’s Internship
Brosnan was recently in Washington D.C. His son just started an internship at a senator’s office and he’s only 17. They’ve known him and his wife for a while. Brosnan said his heart was pounding when he said goodbye. His son’s not interested in politics though. He’s interested in the environment. He and his wife have done many things for years for the environment. Brosnan’s really proud of his son. He told him to be himself and to keep his head up and shoulders back and other stuff like that.

Pierce Brosnan came by to talk to Kelly & Michael about his new movie ‘A Long Way Down’ and how he used to be a fire eater. (cinemafestival / Shutterstock.com)
Before being actor, Brosnan was a commercial artist. Now he paints. They showed a piece of his called “Figi.” It’s very bright and colorful. He left school at 15 with nothing but a cardboard folder of drawings and paintings. That was his “passport into life.” He found a job in a small studio in South London. He was drawing straight lines, making tea, and watering the plants. Then one day he was talking to a guy from the photographic department. They started talking about theater and he said he should go to a theater club.
Kelly & Michael: Pierce Brosnan Fire Eater
Brosnan was also a fire eater. When he started out in fringe theater and experimental theater, he learned how to eat fire. The last time he did it was on The Muppets. They had a clip of it, which Brosnan was very surprised about. It was awesome. Kelly was in shock. She said forget his parents, she was picturing his agent hoping he didn’t burn his face. He actually burned his mouth really badly. The prop guy suggested something else besides kerosene and it messed up. Michael joked that Brosnan was going to do it now, but he didn’t.
Kelly & Michael: A Long Way Down Review
Brosnan is in A Long Way Down. They talked about when Toni Collette was on the show. She said that Brosnan was “naughty, cheeky, and very expensive looking.” Brosnan was okay with that. He said they had a great time and that he loves Collette. He loved the film. It’s about hope and friendship and the resilience of life. He said that Nick Hornby, who wrote the novel, is incredible. Brosnan said they were all joined at the hip because of the movie.
Collette said that they had impromptu moments at the beach in Spain that actually made it into the movie. Brosnan said he always checks out the locations when he reads a script. He’s had some great locations. Brosnan said that it’s a beautiful film and that Collette’s a chameleon. He said she, the two other actors, and Nick Hornby are the reason he did the movie.
They showed a clip of A Long Way Down. The four of them share their three wishes for their lives. Toni Collette said that she wished for a little more of a life and what other people have. Another character didn’t like that. She also wished her son was better, which is why she doesn’t do wishes. Brosnan’s character wants to be famous. He said it’s better than real life.
Kelly called him terrific. She said he should take them with him the next time he’s on location for a film, but Brosnan said they travel enough. A Long Way Down opens July 11 2014 in select theaters.
