Zooey Deschanel: Dream Role Loretta Lynn
Zooey Deschanel joined Kelly and Michael, looking so lady-like in a peach colored dress. Kelly absolutely loved her outfit. Zooey said that she decided to play it safe with a long skirt because she remembered how high the show’s chairs were! Her black-and-white shoes were also great, but Zooey didn’t know the designer.

Zooey is not just an actress, but also a very talented singer and musician. She described how she was able to score her dream role, in which she’ll get to both act and sing! Zooey, who loves the film Coal Miner’s Daughter, said that she had an idea in the shower that it should be made into a Broadway show.

She contacted her manager and found out that they were in fact making a show about Loretta Lynn’s life. Zooey met with the producers, who told her that it was too early to attach any actor to the project. However, she was sent to Nashville for a test-run with none other than Loretta Lynn herself. Zooey met with Loretta and her family, and Loretta liked her so much that she was chosen to star in the show.
The show is currently in development, so it won’t be opening anytime soon. However, Zooey is definitely the star!
Zooey Deschanel: Family Recipes
Since it’s Thanksgiving Family Recipe week, Kelly and Michael wondered if there were any famous Deschanel family recipes. Zooey said that she has lots of food allergies (she can’t eat eggs or wheat) and her sister (actress Emily Deschanel) is a vegan, so they’re not the “funnest” family. However, Zooey does like turkey, and her mom makes an amazing almond torte with chocolate frosting that is always a big hit.

Zooey’s hit show on Fox, New Girl, is currently in its second season. She explained that her character, Jess Day, had recently been laid off from her job as a middle school teacher. In order to pay the bills, Jess has taken lots of odd jobs ranging from a shot girl to a model to a zombie at a haunted house. Now, Jess was just hired to teach adults, so we’ll have to tune in to see how it all works out for her!
Zooey, Kelly and Michael watched a clip of Jess with her roommates, played by Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris and Max Greenfield. See more of Zooey Deschanel and her hilarious antics on New Girl, which airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on Fox.
