David Spade: Fourth of July Fireworks
It’s been a long time since David Spade appeared on Live! With Kelly & Michael, so the hosts were excited to have him. The actor had just arrived from California, where he celebrated the Fourth of July. David explained that in California, the Fourth means a day at the beach. It’s a lot of fun, but a day at the beach also means lots of traffic. So instead of catching the entire fireworks show, David left early in a move that even he referred to as “lame.”

When David was a kid, though, he had lots of fun with fireworks. He grew up in Arizona and would try to chase fireworks down. Michael called that “a boy thing,” because he would do that as a kid too. As Kelly pointed out, a girl would never pick up a firework that hadn’t gone off!
Once, David hurt himself by playing with fireworks. He and his friends crossed the border to Mexico and bought some half sticks of dynamite. “I can’t remember where Mom was,” he joked about the incident.
Live with Kelly & Michael: David Spade Vs. Brad Pitt
The movie posters for Grown Ups 2 all feature images of the stars in their high school days. David’s picture is a rather fetching portrait from his prom, and as Kelly pointed out, it looks strikingly similar to Brad Pitt. If you didn’t know any better, you could easily mistake David for a young Brad.
David laughed and said that his hair was so great when he was in high school, he decided to keep the same style for the next thirty years.
David Spade: Grown Ups 2 Stunts
In the upcoming sequel to Grown Ups, David’s character learns that he fathered a child with a waitress from Hooters. However, what he doesn’t realize is that the “baby” is now sixteen years old and six-foot-two. He then spends the rest of the movie afraid of his own child.
But that wasn’t the only reason David was scared to be on set. He filmed a terrifying stunt where he was planted into a giant truck tire with a camera. Even his stunt double called it “horrible,” so David knew that he was in for a bad experience. When he finally did film the scene, the director said they would have to do it again, because David looked “too scared!”
David, Kelly & Michael checked out a clip of Grown Ups 2 with David and his co-stars Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Chris Rock dressed in costume. Go see Grown Ups 2 in theaters on Friday, July 12 2013.
