Live! with Kelly & Michael: Jennifer Coolidge
One of the most memorable characters, voices, and bods in Hollywood, Jennifer Coolidge just oozes talent. She said she spent most of the summer in New Orleans and got to hang out with guest co-host Rebecca Romijn’s husband Jerry O’Connell. They went on day trips and he came to her Halloween party. The awkward thing was that his manager set him up with friends in town when Jerry was filming a movie.
Coolidge grew up in Boston. She said she spent a few weeks in Boston with her dad, who is 93, after coming back from New Orleans. She said that he’s still a highly active guy, boating and driving. The only thing is that he often gets confused and is always asking her when her films are coming out. He called her daily asking when Austenland would be out, then confused the film and called it Susanland.
Where Does Jennifer Coolidge Find Character Inspiration?
Jennifer said she steals her characters from random people she meets. She knew an exchange student that became the inspiration for Sophie on 2 Broke Girls. She was a stunning beauty that turned heads in the cafeteria, but had the weirdest voice.
Austenland: Jennifer Coolidge Gets Southern & Raunchy
In Austenland, a 30-something woman goes on a Jane Austen-themed vacation. She plays Miss Charming, “the very horny American” on the ride to meet anything that might be interested in her. The Southern character is vulgar and tries to do a hilarious British accent. She said that she likes to meet anyone that is remotely interested in her roles and films.
I loved the clip of this film shown on Kelly & Michael. Miss Charming puts on a hysterical fake British accent and reads a scene from Pride & Prejudice that she fluffs up a little bit. The raunchy scene she creates involved Mr Darcy telling Jane Bennett that he would sleep with her and actually talk to her the next day, unlike men she might meet 100 years from then.
Austenland opens in all theaters September 27 2013.
