They actually star in it together, and it starts pretty awkwardly. It was fun. They met working right out of school. They have a shared passion, and love working together. They shot it all in New York and called in a lot of favors in the Lower East Side where they live. It was guerrilla style film making. She loved it.

Ferrera plays Astrid, a blonde, blue eyed Viking. They joked that she’s typecast all the time. She loves Astrid though. She’s a strong, powerful, dragon rider. She’s wining the races and is better than the boys. She loves that we have these kinds of characters in animated films for young girls now. They’re in the middle of the action rather than being saved.
