Kelly & Michael: Fourth of July Weekend
Kelly & Michael talked about how the Fourth of July is over, which signals to Kelly “the ticking clock that is the end of summer.” Once July 4th weekend is over, it’s all downhill. Kelly & Michael were close, but didn’t see each other. Michael was lazy, and Kelly was in her backyard. It’s was beautiful all weekend except it rained all day on the Fourth of July in the northeast. Kelly became very productive and cleaned all of their closets. She even got rid of old baby dresses.
Michael expected to sleep in late, but couldn’t do it. He went to bed late and had some cocktails, but it didn’t help. He ate and watched movies while it rained, but he had a good weekend and rode jet skis later.

Kelly & Michael talked about their Fourth of July show. They are really competitive people and Kelly said they were willing to kill to win. The audience members did not get that when they decided to play. Michael said the balloon pop was ridiculous. They played a clip. Apparently the onesies were also a big hit. Gelman said they kept them. It was a fun show.
Kelly & Michael: Hot Dog Eating Competition
Joey Chestnut got engaged right before the hot dog eating contest. She said yes and he went on to win. He ate 61 hot dogs. Kelly joked that that must have been a beautiful night. She really hates it. Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas lost. Michael watched it. Kelly was shocked that he could do it. Michael said it was fine because he couldn’t smell it. He said they built up the competitors so well that Michael watched the whole thing.
Kelly & Michael: Which City Eats the Most Hot Dogs?
Michael talked about the cities with the most hot dogs eaten in 2013. Philadelphia is 24 with 23.3 million packages of hot dogs sold. Atlanta has 24.5. New York has 31 in second place. LA is number one with 40.7. Kelly was shocked because they’re so health conscious. She said they’re probably not eating the buns.
Kelly & Michael: The World Cup
Michael asked Kelly if she watched any soccer on the rainy day. She did. Her husband was out of the country and was flying back, so she had to record them for him. He didn’t know what channel they were on or what time they really were. She also had to extend the recordings by an hour and a half. Kelly was really proud that she managed to do it, but the satellite went out sometimes because of the rain, but that’s not her fault.
Mark asked the flight attendant if the pilot wouldn’t announce the scores, but the pilot wasn’t getting access to the scores. He usually plugs his ears, looks down, and says, “Don’t say anything to me, because I don’t know the score.” He doesn’t check his phone or go on Twitter. He tells the cab driver to turn off the radio. Then he walks in the door and Joaquin ruins it.
Brazil won and is going to play Germany, where Michael grew up, in the semifinals. Neymar, one of their best players got hurt. He broke a vertebrae in his back and got kicked in his back. Michael thought he was being dramatic. Everybody did. They didn’t take him seriously and didn’t handle him well when they took him off the field, but he was actually very hurt and was airlifted home. Brazil, Germany, the Netherlands, and Argentina are playing on Wednesday.
