Kelly & Michael: Playing The Lotto Makes You Happier
Kelly and Michael kicked off their show talking about how, contrary to popular wisdom that lotto winners end up unhappy, lotto winners actually end up with a happier life. The New York Times has a new report all about that. Michael said he thought the myth of money getting blown and families going into debt was a tale we tell to make ourselves feel better that we didn’t win. Kelly said that people who remain anonymous are probably happier because they don’t have family member members crawling out of the woodwork. Michael said that he hasn’t even won $300 million and people he doesn’t want to talk to are bothering him.

People at the age of 66 are trading in their traditional homes and hitting the road in an RV. “This is one way to ensure that your children do not move home after they graduate,” Kelly joked. Michael said that his dad had an RV because he wanted to drive from North Carolina or Maryland to Texas without paying for plane tickets. Kelly said her dad was a bus driver, so he never wanted to drive the family anywhere.
Kelly said that she did go on a trip with a friend once in an RV and got sick on the trip, throwing up off the side of the sleeping compartment down below to where everyone else was. “‘I was the least popular person on that camping trip,” Kelly joked.
Kelly & Michael: Farm To Table Challenge
Kelly and Michael are kicking off their annual summer cooking series. It’s their Superstar Chefs Farm To Table Challenge. Each week, a new superstar chef will be coming by to create a farm-to-table ingredient in their recipe. Kelly and Michael are holding a contest for viewers at home as well.
Viewers can take a picture of themselves and the meal they made at home with the chef’s recipe and the best food selfie is eligible for a chance for a $500 gift card to Omaha Steaks. The best food selfie will win a trip to New York to see Kelly and Michael Live.
Spin Into Summer Travel Trivia: Caleb Johnson
Then it was onto Live!’s Spin Into Summer trivia contest with Karen from Adams, New York. Today’s trivia prize was a trip to The Buccaneer in St. Croix. It was all-inclusive and was eight days, seven nights, a prize worth $7100.
Here’s the question:
Earlier this week, Kelly and Michael talked to American Idol winner Caleb Johnson. What did Caleb say his father does for a living?
The answer: football coach. Unfortunately, Karen had no idea. She guessed bus driver, which Michael said was similar. But Karen was still going to get a good prize. She won a five-year subscription to Netflix and a streaming device worth $500. Her scream of joy was so loud and weird, Kelly said she thought Karen was being murdered. But Karen said she was just happy because she’d been binge-watching all week.
