Kelly & Michael: Online Dating Apps & Websites
About 38% of Americans are relying on dating websites or mobile dating apps to find other singles and arrange dates. Societal acceptance of online dating was at 44% in 2005; now that is up to 59%.
Producer Lori Schulweis met her husband online; they dated for two and a half years before tying the knot. Now they have been married four years.
Lori said she chose him over another man on the dating website. She and Kelly agreed that his unrevealing profile photo might have been enticing. But I agree with Michael; if someone is not showing their face, it may be because there is something they don’t want you to see.
Kelly listed the niche dating sites, like JDate, Christian Mingle, and Farmers Only. Farmers Only seems to always surprise people. And those are just the ones appropriate enough to be mentioned on daytime TV.
Kelly and Michael: How Much Do We Spend On Halloween Costumes?
Americans spend $2.6 billion on Halloween costumes every year. But Kelly saves money by dressing her dog up in the same witch costume every year. But what’s more surprising is that $1 billion is spent on children’s costumes, while $1.2 goes toward adult costumes and $330 million is spent on pet costumes.
Kelly Ripa recalled the days when her mother used to make the kids’ costumes herself. Kelly wanted to make her son a Minecraft costume, but he was not impressed with her attempt.
Kelly & Michael Halloween Contest Special
The 2013 Halloween episode of Kelly & Michael is coming up in about a week, with over 50 costume changes. Check Facebook and Instagram to get a sneak peek at some of the costumes. Vote in an online poll to let the show know whether you want them to continue revealing costumes online leading up to the Halloween show.
Plus, you can enter the Canon Pixma Halloween contest on Kelly and Michael’s official website by sending in your best Halloween photo. The co-hosts showed some of the entries that have already come in.
Someone in the audience had a Mini Gelman cardboard cutout, which really wowed the co-hosts. “He is his own mini-me,” Ripa said.
Wild Wake Up Travel Trivia: Michael Jordan
The morning’s trivia contestant was Cheri from Pennsylvania. She played for a vacation to the Henderson Park Inn in Destin, Florida.
With what professional athlete did Jennifer Morrison appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated?
The answer was Michael Jordan, but Cheri did not come up with it in time. Instead, she and an audience member won eight place settings of Lenox China.
