Live With Kelly Ripa: Regis Philbin Decorates With The Consuelos Family

Earlier in the show, Regis Philbin cooked with Kelly Ripa’s children. Now, in another flashback clip, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos invited Regis Philbin to help them decorate the family Christmas tree. Kelly Ripa started by getting the lights strung, because she said Regis would go crazy if he had to deal with the lights. She showed off decorations all around her house, saying that she loves Christmas decorations of all kinds. She even strung garland and lights on the staircases.

Regis Philbin arrived in a purple sweater, bearing a Notre Dame football ornament for the family Christmas tree, because his alma mater is Notre Dame. When Regis dropped the ornament and dented their wood floor, Kelly Ripa joked that Mark Consuelos was more upset about that than the 2003 babysitting incident when Regis dropped little Joaquin on his head.

Even Chuy, the family dog, came to greet Regis Philbin. Lola helped him find a spot for the ornament. Kelly Ripa showed off Mark Conseulos’s labeling system to keep the ornaments organized when they are in storage. Together, everyone hung ornaments on the tree.

Later, Regis read “The Night Before Christmas” to the Consuelos kids. Regis would read a line from the classic poem and let the children fill in the last words. But Joaquin was getting impatient and agitating Regis. Michael seemed bored with the story, and Joaquin tried biting Regis and rubbing his head to distract him.

The classic poem “The Night Before Christmas” was first published in 1823. That makes it 108 years older than Regis Philbin himself, who turned 80 in 2011.
