Live With Kelly: National Heat Wave
On Monday, July 2 2012, Michael Strahan returned as Kelly’s co-host to an exuberant crowd. Kelly joked that Monday morning crowds are the best because they are still drunk from the weekend. Michael said that he spent his weekend attending two events for some friends: on Saturday a birthday party, and on Sunday, a wedding.
Kelly revealed that she actually spent some time in the pool this weekend, which is something that she rarely does, but it was just too hot! In fact, it was hot all over the country this weekend. Kelly showed a weather map of the United States, which was almost entirely red or orange colored.

Michael said that unlike Kelly, he enjoys going in the pool. However, he is almost always disturbed by kids who want to play with him. He said that he can launch a child pretty far into the air, which makes him very popular.
Live With Kelly: First Kiss Age
Michael read from a story that had found the average ages for some of life’s major milestones, so he and Kelly compared their experiences to others’. First up was first kiss: the average age is 15. Kelly said that hers was at 14, while Michael’s was at 11. Kelly was shocked that Michael’s first kiss was so young. Michael shrugged and said, “hey, I start early!”
Most people’s most enjoyable summer takes place at the age of 24, but Kelly said that hers this summer! She and Michael also talked about the age that they first felt like their parents. Kelly said that for her, it was as soon as she had kids. Once she started turning around in the car to yell at them, she was reminded of car trips when she herself was a kid. Kelly said, “it’s amazing how your parents were able to beat you and drive at the same time.” She also said that her own kids would have never survived her childhood!
Live With Kelly: Alec Baldwin Marriage and TomKat Divorce
A congratulations was in order for Alec Baldwin and his new wife Hilaria Thomas, who married over the weekend. The couple were wed at Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which is also Kelly’s church.
On the other hand, Kelly and Michael discussed the announcement that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes– known to the press as “TomKat”– are divorcing. Michael said that it is “scary” to hear that a couple like them are splitting up, because they seemed like a happy couple from the outside. It is also upsetting for their daughter, Suri. It must be difficult for a family when the whole world is publicly discussing a private matter.
Live With Kelly: Milkshake Thieves
Michael switched gears with an interesting crime story about a group of thieves who threw a milkshake at a woman. However, they drove off with her purse and belongings when threw them at the thieves in anger. Kelly figured that there must be more to the story. She wanted to know, what kind of milkshake was it? She said that if someone tried to rob her but used a Shamrock Shake, she would be happy, because they are so delicious!
Live With Kelly: Surf’s Up Trivia Matthew McConaughey
Last week, we learned that Matthew McConaughey from Magic Mike cooked with celebrity chef Guy Fieri at his wedding. During Surf’s Up Trivia, a caller won a trip to Antigua when she remembered that Guy and Matthew are pals. Plus, an audience member won a gift card for Omaha Steaks.
