Kelly Ripa Tropical Vacation & Michael Strahan Los Angeles Earthquake

Kelly Ripa Tropical Vacation

Kelly Ripa returned after a vacation, and all was right with the world. She said that returning to New York in the freezing rain instantly reminded her about the winter weather after her week in warmer climes.

Ripa said each of her children has individual vacation quirks. The family enjoys snorkeling, but daughter Lola does not enjoy rental masks and snorkels. Kelly also thinks her daughter is finally taller than her, at age 12.

There were a few pictures of paradise that she shared with the audience to shake them out of the winter blahs. Michael Strahan reiterated his call to travel to a tropical locale with the show. Kelly also nearly picked up a toxic, poisonous Portuguese Man of War, an encounter that marked the end of her vacation.

Kelly & Michael: Los Angeles Earthquake

Kelly Ripa Tropical Vacation & Michael Strahan Los Angeles Earthquake

Kelly Ripa returned after two weeks off for a tropical vacation, and she spoke with Michael Strahan about wild weather, including a Los Angeles earthquake.

During her time away, Kelly did not have access to TV or the Internet. But she has since heard about the Los Angeles earthquake, and it turns out that Michael Strahan was at his California home for the event.

Strahan said he was sleeping when he was awakened by shaking and buzzing…from his cell phone, which was blowing up with text messages from people wondering whether he felt the earthquake, but he had slept through it.

“From what I heard, it was pretty scary,” Strahan said, noting that he has only been through a single earthquake during the past several years that he spent time there. Luckily, nothing was damaged.

Michael said earthquakes are scary because they are so unpredictable and you just have to hope for the best. Kelly wondered whether it is true that the animals always know what is coming. That’s why Strahan said animals need to be able to talk so they can communicate their instincts.

Kelly and Michael: Incontinent Dog

The Consuelos family’s dog, Chewie, still has trouble controlling her bladder when she is reunited with the family after a long absence, like this vacation. Kelly said they have never been able to break her of this habit, in which she rolls over on her back and pees. Michael suggested reuniting with her outside.
