Kelly & Michael: Extra Fees on Planes
Philadelphia International Airport became the first airport in the US to provide three types of stationary bikes for people to use while waiting for their flights free of charge. Kelly thought that was awesome. She hates travel days and said you never get to exercise on a travel day. Michael said he gets it, but they should provide showers too. He doesn’t want to ride next to people who do that. Kelly said that people already smell on planes anyway.
Michael talked about all of the extra charges on planes. There’s a survey asking if you would rather pay higher fees or lower fees with extra charges for things like checking a bag or getting a snack. Kelly said she would rather pay higher fees. She hates being nickel and dimed. 53% of the people in the survey agreed with her. If you add the extra charges up, it’s a lot of money. Airlines actually make more on that than on selling tickets.
