Kelly & Michael: Detroit Lions

Kelly & Michael started the week by talking about how great the crowd was. Some lady yelled out “Go Giants” and Michael said “Yeah,” but Kelly told her “I don’t know if you heard, but he doesn’t play for the Giants anymore. He became a talk show host.” Kelly asked Michael when the Detroit Lions are playing backstage. They’re playing Sept. 8 against the Giants. Kelly’s dad is a huge Detroit Lions fan.

Kelly spent the weekend in Italy. She went to a destination wedding for Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka. It was a very quiet and private family affair. David’s father asked Kelly to ask Michael if the Detroit Lions stand a chance this year because they’re from that area. Michael said that they have a very good chance. They have a lot of talent and a very disciplined coach. They could be one of the surprise teams this year.

Michael said he was surprised when she just casually said she spent the weekend in Italy. She said she’d give details on Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka’s wedding, though she’s not sure how much she’s allowed to say. She said it was a beautiful family affair in Perugia, Italy, where they rented a castle. Then she said she hopes they rented it and they didn’t all just actually break into it. She said it was really beautiful and Sir Elton John performed. There were also fireworks, amazing food, and magic tricks because Neil loves magic. She said that the wedding vows were also beautiful.

They have twins, Gideon and Harper. Harper was going to be the flower girl and Gideon was going to be the ring bearer, but he didn’t want to be the ring bearer. So they asked him what he wanted to be. He said he wanted to be “the orange boy,” and he passed out oranges to everybody as he walked down the aisle, which I think is adorable. Michael asked where he got that from. He came up with it on his own. Later on, while they were dancing, Kelly told him that she kept his orange and she was going to save it forever, but he said she shouldn’t because it’s delicious.

She said it was a beautiful wedding and the speeches were very moving. They’re such a nice and beautiful family. They’re both really nice and talented guys. Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish got up and said this wouldn’t be possible many years ago, and they’re thankful for everyone’s support and how they’re children all have each other and look to each other as an example of a family like theirs, and how the definition of a family is always changing. She said the speeches were just great.
