Kelly and Michael: Manti Te’O, Adele and Women In Combat
Kelly and Michael kicked off the morning with the revelation that Manti Te’O lied, Adele planning an Oscars performance, and some thoughts about women in combat in the US military.
Kelly & Michael: Best Vs Worst Days For Women
According to Kelly Ripa, there is medical science to why people get so excited about Thursdays. “Women look their oldest at 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday,” Kelly reported from a newspaper article.
Energy levels bottom out, work stress peaks, and you finally pay for whatever you did the weekend before. But the good news is that Thursdays are better for ladies, because it is the day they are most likely to get intimate with a significant other.
Michael Strahan questioned how this type of study could be conducted. “The rosy youthful glow they get…is why 60% of women say that Friday is their happiest day,” Kelly continued.
Kelly and Michael: Kelly Ripa Hair Color
Did Kelly Ripa change her hair? Michael said that it was looking lighter, and my mind immediately rushed to Beyonce. Kelly admitted that her hair color is not natural. She said it starts to lighten up after a few washings once she has had it re-colored.
Michael said he always likes Kelly’s hair, even with those hideous clip-in bangs from last week. That’s nice of him to say, but at least the studio audience was honest (or as she said, “vicious”) with Kelly.
Kelly & Michael: Manti Te’O Lied
Notre Dame football player Manti Te’O is talking to Katie Couric about his online relationship gone wrong. He admitted that he lied after finding out that his online girlfriend was not real. Then the co-hosts tried to parse the syntax of the term “catfish,” which did not go well.
The perpetrator of this hoax admitted that he would talk to Te’O on the phone and fake a female voice. Michael tried a falsetto voice to see if anyone in the audience would fall for it. Kelly contributed some breathy baby talk, but neither of them would probably convince me.
Michael did say he believes Te’O’s story that he was fooled, and that once he found out, he was probably embarrassed. His advice is to only date people you meet in person.
Kelly and Michael: Bradley Cooper Lance Armstrong Movie?
Speaking of high profile liars, Bradley Cooper is offering to portray Lance Armstrong in an upcoming movie about the cyclist. Kelly volunteered Michael Strahan to play Oprah in the movie, since he did so well at Halloween. “I liked dressing up as Oprah. It was fun. I had a good time,” Michael said. But we just heard his falsetto voice, so I’m thinking it might not be Oscar material.
Everyone could agree that Bradley Cooper would do well in the role of Lance Armstrong.
Kelly & Michael: Women In Combat
What do you think about the decision to allow women in active combat in the military? Kelly shared her thoughts. She said women are capable and strong, but she said she foresees “unimaginable challenges” if women were captured and tortured as prisoners of war.
Michael said he thought women tend to make more rational decisions in stressful situations. The Pentagon approved a new policy, to be implemented by January 2016.
Kelly and Michael: Chelsea Star Kicks Ball Boy
At a recent soccer game, a Chelsea Star player kicked a ball boy in the ribs. The circumstances around the incident are murky, but you can clearly see the player kicking the teen. Eden Hazard was red carded and ejected from the game.
Michael said he had never seen that type of behavior during his NFL days. But Kelly and Michael both agreed that streakers are an entertaining diversion at a sporting event.
Kelly & Michael: Winter Flu Excuses
What is the latest “trendy” excuse you can use to get out of things this winter? Try saying you have the flu. I think some of the people in the studio audience tried that today.
Kelly said the Live staff is so small and devoted that people tend to come to work even when they are very sick. Michael illustrated how you can easily become overcommitted and want to get out of an engagement.
Michael suggested telling people that your kids have the flu as an alternative, but Kelly said that would cause a karma backfire.
Kelly and Michael: Adele Oscars Performance
Blizzard To Beach Trivia: Christine Baranski
Christine Earley from Visalia, California, was playing trivia for a trip to the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa.
What city did Christine Baranski say she was from?
The answer was Buffalo, and Christine helped an audience member take home a $500 Fandango gift certificate.
