Kelly & Michael: Joan Rivers’ Funeral

Kelly talked to Michael about her conflicting emotions. She said that she was so happy for Neil and David and so sad about the loss of Joan Rivers. She was having such mixed emotions over the weekend. She was at a wedding and Rivers’ funeral was happening at the same time.

The funeral was September 7. Apparently Gelman was there and it was very moving. They also talked about the tribute they had taped on Friday. She’d been on the show twice since Michael’s been there, but Kelly said she was an integral part of their show. She made show history. Regis was on vacation and Kelly was hosting with Thomas Gibson, but she got really sick during the night. It was the only time she’s ever called in sick. Joan filled in for her and they called her at 4 in the morning.

Kelly said she was just at another wedding and she was sitting next to Joan. They showed a picture of the two of them. Joan made her laugh the entire time. She said it was like being at a private Joan Rivers concert.

Michael said he literally laid on the floor laughing when she was on the show. She said what he was thinking but would never say. That’s what she always did. You would be honored if she insulted you, and what she said was true. They showed videos of her. She went parasailing with Gelman. She’d probably been on more than any other guest over 30 years. She would always tell Kelly she looked fabulous and asked if it was Botox. Then they’d talk about their doctors and procedures. She always brought Melissa. They also talked about Cooper.

Kelly said she would have loved her funeral. They closed down 5th Avenue. Gelman said it was the dirtiest funeral he had ever been to. Cindy Adams and Howard Stern spoke and Hugh Jackman and Audra McDonald performed.

Kelly & Michael: Tough Mudder Competition

Michael said that “speaking of dirty,” the hosts did the Tough Mudder competition on Friday. Michael said that they had a discussion behind the scenes and Gelman was really worried about Michael. Kelly said in her mind, she’s in such great shape, but she was surprised by how slow she was. Michael doesn’t have a shower in his dressing room, but Kelly does. She said he had to wait 14 more years.

He had to go downstairs to shower. Kelly calls it The Silence of the Lambs shower. Kelly said he could use hers, but he was already downstairs. Hers is really small too. He had to wait after Nick & Knight, but they let him go, but apparently the shower head is terrible. In both showers, the water sprays everywhere but on you. Gelman said they’re about to redo it. Kelly got her shower after they did a slime segment. She went to the head of the station and used his shower, then she got her own. They took his away though. Michael said they’re always doing something that’s dirty or they’re working out, so this is a real problem. Michael wanted someone to stand outside the door of the creepy shower.

Would Kelly & Michael Do Tough Mudder Again?

Kelly asked if Michael had any bruises, because she did. He said he did too. His ankle was swollen and he doesn’t know how it happened. Kelly doesn’t know how any of her injuries happened either, but she said she looks like she was in a fistfight with a horse that’s been kicking her. She has bruises and splinters.

Michael said it was fun though. Kelly said she’s going to do it again and do a real one. An audience member said the real one is a 5K, but Gelman said it’s 12 miles. This was all of Kelly’s fears though. The ice was the worst. Michael used to use ice tubs, but this was still terrible. He was coughing for 30-45 minutes after the race and thought he was going to get sick. Kelly thought she was having a heart attack. Kelly said it’s like a scene from Titanic. They showed a clip of them and compared Kelly and Michael’s faces. Gelman held his nose. He kept his head above water, but Kelly said she wasn’t thinking about it. She also joked she peed in it to warm it up.

Kelly & Michael: US Open Finals

Michael talked about the men’s US open finals tonight. The top two guys have already been knocked off. They talked about names and how different countries have other pronunciations. They also congratulated Serena Williams.

Kelly & Michael: Royal Baby #2

They also congratulated the royal couple, who’s having their second child. Kelly was exited, but Michael hasn’t recovered from the first royal baby watch yet.

Time to Smile Travel Trivia: Kevin Kline

Kelly & Michael brought up people hitting them with the balls again. The Time to Smile Travel Trivia dancer was Lea Tibbits from Auckland, New Zealand. She danced in the other direction. The contestant was Denise Crowley from Boca Raton, Florida. It’s hot and humid, but beautiful there. She has three granddaughters on Long Island. She also has a birthday coming up and her family will probably take her to dinner. She played for the St. James’s Club in Morgan Bay. It’s valued at $8,500. The question was:

She got it right! She said Indiana University. She picked number 87 to get a $500 appliance package from Cuisinart.
