Kelly & Michael: NY Food Inspection Ratings
Kelly Ripa told everyone that restaurants in New York have food rating stickers in the window. She’s never seen an F before. The lowest she’s seen is a B. Her kids get scared, but she doesn’t even notice. Michael sees some with A ratings that look like Ds with the décor.
Kelly then said that most people would score a C in their own kitchens because of improperly frozen foods. She revealed that you shouldn’t freeze meat and fishes with dairy foods like ice cream because of cross-contamination. And you need to clean your dishwasher.
Kelly is pretty god about that. She keeps those food separately. She doesn’t really freeze meat, though. Her kids don’t have the patience to let it thaw.
Kelly and Michael: Keeping a Safe, Healthy Kitchen

Kelly & Michael give tips for a safe and healthy kitchen including keeping your meat and dairy away from each other even when they’re frozen.
Kelly shared five suggestions for a safe kitchen. Make sure you have a food thermometer and check food temperature and eat leftovers quickly so don’t spoil. Kelly added her own rule: Don’t eat anything with filmy green on top, she joked. She continued with the real rules.
- Wash your hands.
- Restrain your hair.
- Keep meat away from stuff that’s ready to eat, even in a freezer.
- Keep everything clean.
These seem simple enough and will go a long way in keeping a healthy kitchen.
Kelly & Michael: Special White House Easter Show
Kelly & Michael revealed that they’ll be filming live in two locations for Easter. Kelly will be in New York and Michael will be in Washington DC for an “egg-sclusive” with Michelle Obama for the Easter egg roll. Kelly was excited for him. It’s not competitive, she assured Michael.
They haven’t done Live! from the White House, and haven’t done a split show for years. They were worried about there being a delay between the two locations. But Gelman assured them that there are fiber optics there so it’s instantaneous.
Kelly thought they should have fun with it anyway. She will add a beep just to upset Gelman and Kelly wants Michael to just wait four seconds every time he responds to the First Lady.
Spring it On Travel Trivia: Jeremy Piven
Megan Lynch from Washington DC was the day’s Trivia Dancer. Kelly & Michael also noticed that Santa and Mrs. Claus were in the audience. Kelly said they would need a vacation. “Santa Claus has a spring break too,” Michael said.
Verona Floyd, from Cleveland Oh was the day’s contestant. She had a cold but was ready to play. She was playing for a trip to the Galey Bay Resort in Antigua. It even had a private plunge pool. The question was:
In what city did Jeremy Piven say he grew up?
Verona didn’t watch that show! She got the answer wrong. He grew up in Chicago. She and a member of the audience did get a gift certificate from Omaha Steaks, though. Kelly said she could get her steak, sit in her tub, and pretend she’s in a plunge pool. She had to pick between 1 and 203. She picked 50 and picked which audience member won along with her.
