First of all, she had to sue from emancipation to gain control of the sizeable wealth she acquired while being a gymnast because her abusive and controlling father was squandering all of it. Then, she later found out that she had a sister that was born without legs and given up for adoption. As it turned out, this sister was aerialist and acrobat Jennifer Bricker, who was actually an avid fan of Moceanu’s and had been following her for quite some time when she found out she was her sister. I guess some talents do run in the family!
